I travelled to Brighton yesterday to spend some time with one of the most charming people I think I may have ever met. The view as always is stunning and I share it with you!

i went to see the illustrator Nick Sharratt today to shoot a video for School Children’s Book Awards, after I saw him I caught a glimpse of this cool looking contraption that looks like a cross between a bunjee jump and a trampolene and had to give it a go! Only 300 miles left before my head hits the pillow (its been long day)…

Well I asked the chap on the right for directions to the train station (which being an out of towner he had no idea). But upon complimenting him on his formidable mustache (as you do) I asked if I could take a photo. He beconned me inside to the lounge of Brighton Hotel to meet some of his hairy friends. I was greeted with: “hey, your naked!” – I don’t wear a beard.

The chap on the left actually has what is known as (i only found this out yesterday) ‘a chin beard’ as the tache is a finger width below his lip. Now why would I want to know this?

This was the pre-meet for the The World Beard and Mustache Championships. I witnessed some inter party talks between the Whisker Club and The Pipe Club of Great Britain – you seriously had to be there.

Perhaps Drew (who is MIA) will like to speak to these guys for his Mustache Registry. These hairy men are organized and meeting people from the world over this Saturday to be judged on who has the finest facial hair.

I won’t be making the 600 mile round trip again for this – i’m off to Grimblethorpe (!!!) for my birthday.

Excuse the self indulgence for a minute – ahem.

Its my birthday this Friday, 31st August. I’m going to be 30.

I doubt I will get one of these badges on a card so I made one for myself. I used to love them as a kid (because i still am).

Its been a strange time of reflection over the last few months because of this milestone.

I quit my job in February and decided to only do things that make me and those around me happy.

I am having a (metaphorical) party at this new group I created. You are cordially invited.

Please try and make it. I’d love it if you could be there.

This little beauty landed on the Bay tree in my garden for a spot of lunch.

I went over to her and asked her to hang on until I got my camera, thinking she’d be gone when I got back. She sat there posing and at one point turned her head and looked me in the face – I could have sworn she winked one of those 30,000 eyes…

Last Thursday I decided that I must quit coffee. That’s how easy it was. But it wasn’t really. Cold turkey is rough. Headaches, sweats, restlessness and a really bad attitude – did I mention the headaches? But I was committed to get to the other side without imbibing one drop of the black stuff. However many times it was waved under my nose.

The card I made for Ella got on the telly! Woohoo! (i am such a kid sometimes).

I spent ages making it and it was well worth it to see Ella’s face this morning – a priceless moment.
