I took a few pictures Quentin Blakes seriously big work (16m high!) to celebrate the arrival of the Eurostar, whilst I was passing through Kings Cross in London this morning. If you click here you can see the other photo’s in this series.

It looks awesome and will bring illustration to a wide range of people as they step off the train St Pancras station.

It forshadows Quentin Blake’s brainchild, the Museum of Illustration which should become a reality in 2011.

There was something magical about standing next to drawings where the lines are thicker than your finger and you can see the detail, spirit and movement on an almost microscopic level.

As part of the Big Draw, founded by Quentin Blake, we take our annual trundle down to the town hall in Newark. Where models, materials and media all await us free of charge and we unleash our whirlwind of chaos and crayons amongst frowns from arty types.

this is my daughter Ella when she was about 2 years old. She is asleep sniffing her blanket called Miffy on a fluffy cushion. i drew it in about 1 minute with a black biro.

This was the first painting I did after 10 years of doing other stuff. I prefer this to doing that other stuff. When I look at it, it fills me with child like exhuberance to do more of what I love doing and I remember what it was like to mix powder with water in front of an easel being 7 years old, wearing an apron and not caring about anything. i remember the smell of the paint and my blue fingers turning green when they mix with the yellow…
